About UIT

About
UTI

Urinary tract infections affect 152 million people around the world every year. Due to the anatomy of their urinary tract, women are particularly at risk as well as the elderly, diabetes, pregnant, and immune-suppressed patients.

Differentiated urine diagnostics, which forms the basis for adequate therapy, is time-consuming, labour and resource-intensive. As a result, UTIs are often treated only empirically, i.e. without the availability of an antibiogram. The incorrect and often unnecessary prescription of antibiotics prolongs treatment times, increases the risk of complications and promotes the emergence of antibiotic resistance.
